Statement: This piece came about from a challenge to create a block representing your cultural heritage. Focusing on my Spainish heritage, I vaguely remembered seeing a sort of abstract painting in an old magazine from Spain that my father had. I thought that the painting was by Picasso. So while designing and constructing this piece I was calling it "Picasso's Bull". However, after I completed the piece I was able to find the painting in the magazine again, only to discover that it was not by Picasso!
In a lot of my work I like to incorporate double-meanings or images that can be seen in two different ways. So the title could be saying that this bull image was not inspired by a Picasso painting or it might be a statement about my opinion of the work of Picasso! While the block is of the head of a bull, many people also see birds when they look at this piece.
